Non-Exempt, Union Grade 16

SALARY: $52,566 to $73,996 

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Reporting to the Assoc. EVP: Community Affairs, responsible for assisting in the operation of the JCRC/Community Pillar with specific responsibility for Interfaith/Interethnic Relations or other primary areas of JCRC activities, such as Israel Advocacy, Community Outreach and Development or Government Affairs, including other related special projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Functions as coordinator of a portion of the Community Pillar lay process and serves as a resource person to JFC lay and professional leadership in areas of staff responsibility and expertise; assists with policy and programmatic goals and in developing leadership and coordinating projects for the JCRC. Takes primary responsibility for ongoing interethnic and community outreach work with other ethnic, racial and religious communities.  Prepares briefings, position papers, newsletters, and press releases as required; Sets up meetings, conferences, symposia as required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Other duties may be assigned as needed in working with multiple JFC pillars and assisting with the Campaign.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION
Degree in Political Science, Social Welfare, Jewish Communal Service, Law or a related field; minimum 2-4 years experience in community relations, Jewish community service, work with elected officials or related field; demonstrated ability to work well with and relate to people; experience and interest in community organization, community relations and social action; understanding of the Jewish community required; familiarity with Israel and issues related to Israel advocacy desired; ability to multi-task and to work to deadlines, and excellent ability to express oneself verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of the Los Angeles Latino community and/or fluency in Spanish a plus.  Current working knowledge of automated office equipment; must be computer literate, Microsoft Word required.
