Board of Rabbis Union Grade 13A Part-Time, 31 hrs/wk Salary: $45,147 to $62,504 (FTE) Summary Description of Position: Reporting to the Director of Educational & Interreligious Programs, administers planning, marketing, implementation, evaluation and all other aspects of Board of Rabbis trans-denominational and interfaith programs for rabbis, the Jewish Federation, synagogues, the Jewish community and the community at large. Principal Duties: Assists development and administration of Board of Rabbis chaplaincy programs for health care and penal institutions, including program coordination of chaplains, liaison with hospitals, nursing homes and prisons, and expansion of chaplaincy services. Assist planning and implementation of and publicizes trans-denominational projects for synagogues and Jewish community, including “One People, One Book” and Los Angeles Synagogue Leadership Institute. Help develop and implement continuing education programs for rabbinic community, including Torah Lishmah seminars, Critical Issues series and workshops for professional growth and development. Provides Jewish-content information and referral services for Board of Rabbis, Jewish Federation, affiliated agencies, synagogue community and unaffiliated Jews. Plans and staffs meetings and programs of Board of Rabbis committees, including Social Action, Funeral Practices, Israel Advocacy & Education and Torah Learning. Develops, edits and updates electronic media services of Board of Rabbis, including web site, Torah commentaries, holiday information and monthly e-newsletter. Develops relations with funding sources, synagogues, agencies and other institutions as partners in funding special Board of Rabbis projects. Networks with staff of UJF Campaign, JCRC, Planning and Allocations, Marketing and PR and other Federation departments to facilitate joint programming. Supervises computer and administrative duties, including word processing, mailings, phoning and e-mails to support Board of Rabbis activities. Additional Duties Other duties may be assigned as needed including assisting with the Campaign. Education & Experience Required For Position BA required, advanced degree preferred; strong background planning programs in synagogues and other Jewish organizations; demonstrable knowledge of Judaism and the Jewish community; ability to set priorities, work independently and assume responsibility for projects; excellent leader and communicator with strong interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal skills; ability to work with diverse groups of volunteer leadership and professional colleagues; demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word.
