Ensuring the Jewish Future

“L’dor v’dor – from generation to generation.” It is one of those phrases that many of us know from childhood, from synagogue, from our parents. For The Jewish Federation, l’dor v’dor means keeping our focus on the next generation of Jews. Studies have shown that Jewish education among children, both formal and informal, is an excellent predictor of future Jewish involvement as adults. The Federation sponsors educational programs such as day school scholarships and camperships, Israel experience opportunities for young people, and mentorships between youth and young adults. We promote Jewish life through high school and college programs, seeking to give local Jews every opportunity to secure a strong Jewish identity.

Israel Experiences
Visiting Israel as a young person can be a formative experience in establishing Jewish identity. Since the inception of the Federation-supported Taglit-birthright israel, more than 6,000 L.A.-area youth ages 18 to 26 have received the gift of free, first-time trips to the Jewish homeland. Jewish Summer Camps
Jewish summer camp can be one of the most exciting and meaningful experiences for a Jewish child, offering sports, arts, travel and wilderness activities in a Jewish context. Read the Federation’s guide to Jewish camping opportunities in the L.A. area. Download the PDF

College Outreach
Today’s college students are future leaders of our community. By supporting Hillel, the Federation helps engage Jewish college students in Jewish life and community through educational, service projects, leadership, and, of course, social programming.
