For everyone, there are times in life when we need a little extra help. It may be help finding a job, emergency food or shelter, assistance combating addiction, finding low-cost healthcare or resettling in a new country. Community Connections At SOVA Food Pantries, run by Federation beneficiary agency Jewish Family Service, nutritionally-balanced groceries are provided to thousands of people each year. For some, this is their only food source, but for most, it is not the only service they need. Through a unique new program, SOVA now offers clients access to the services provided by several other agencies, all under one roof. Read More Career services According to the Jewish scholar Maimonides, the highest level of giving is that which enables the recipient to become self-reliant. By supporting the job seeking, training and career planning services of Jewish Vocational Service, the Federation helps thousands of people achieve this goal. Addiction Jewish people are not immune to the struggle with addiction. For Jews who do face such a struggle, they are not alone. Through several Federation-sponsored programs that incorporate Jewish spirituality and values, Jews in personal crises can receive the support they need. Immigrant resettlement Since the inception of the Refugee Resettlement Program in 1973, close to 29,000 refugees have been resettled by the Federation and its agencies. Newly arrived Jewish refugees receive the services they need to build a successful future including: counseling, cash assistance, employment services, medical care, interest free loans, and educational resources.
