Finance & Administration Dept. Exempt, Non-Union Summary Description Of Position Reporting to the Executive VP: Chief Operating Officer. Serves as general counsel to the Jewish Federation. Also responsible to the Senior VP: Administration/HR in areas related to human resources and union issues. Principal Duties Reporting to the EVP: COO, provides general counsel and assists in work related to governance, litigation, fundraising, pension plan, real estate, and other business issues. Responsible for reviewing all Federation contacts for vendors, events, consultants, etc. Directed by and responsible to the Sr VP: Admin/HR, provides general counsel and assists in work related to human resources including labor relations, consultation on personnel related issues terminations. At the direction of the HR Director generates, reviews all proposed personnel polices and procedures. Additional Duties Other duties may be assigned as needed including assisting with the Campaign. Education and Experience Required For Position J.D. degree required; Minimum 6 years experience; Contract and/or employment law experience preferred. Knowledge of California employment and wage and hour law required. Experience in labor negotiations and knowledge of non-profits and corporate governance a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy and tact, and strong oral and written communication skills required.
