Summary Description Of Position

Reporting to the Building Operations Supervisor, this apprentice-level position assists with the operation and maintenance of Federation facilities by performing a variety of skilled preventative and general maintenance and repair in the areas of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical/machinery.

Principal Duties

  • Assists with inspection, preventative and routine maintenance of all common area lighting, sprinkler systems, fire prevention systems and fire extinguishers. 
  • Assists with inspection, preventative and routine maintenance of all building equipment. 
  • Carpentry work, plumbing and electrical repairs, lock repairs, plaster repair, replace lights and perform other trade-related functions. 
  • On call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.  May work split shift hours.

Additional Duties

  • Available to Sr. VP: Administration/HR for special projects as required. 
  • Available for assignments by Operations/Central Services department such as provide room set-ups and take-downs for meetings including moving furniture, cleaning rooms after meetings, general housekeeping when necessary, assisting with workstation configuration and office furniture moves. 
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed including assisting with the Campaign.

Education & Experience Required For Position

  • Education and experience equivalent to a high school education. 
  • Minimum 2 years journey or apprentice level in one trade with strong skills in other trades. 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in all facets of commercial building systems with strong background in HVAC, EMS and emergency power systems. 
  • Broad knowledge of methods, tools and equipment utilized in building maintenance trades, ability to use and care for tools and equipment. 
  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes and regulations pertaining to facilities, systems and renovations. 
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance rudiments of all building equipment. 
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems.   
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions. 
  • Ability to work well with others. 
  • Ability to perform steady and productive work for an extended period of time. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. 
  • Must have enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work
