Literacy Project Coordinator Intern

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Working with the Associate Director: JCRC, as an Americorps Fellow, this position has the responsibility of helping to implement a literacy program in the Los Angeles public school system.

This is a time-limited position ending one year after hire.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Assists in managing a volunteer program that includes the recruitment, training, placement and follow-up of volunteers as well as working with school personnel.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Be available to supervisor for special assignments as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION

  • BA;
  • marketing, recruiting or sales skills;
  • organizational, writing, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • knowledge of the Los Angeles community, culture and values;
  • familiarity with the Los Angeles area; automobile (mileage costs provided);
  • MS Office and Internet;
  • must have working knowledge of appropriate software programs and office systems;
  • knowledge of Judaism and the Jewish community;
  • appropriate education and related experience strongly desired.
