Summer and Winter Camps

For the past decade, The Jewish Federation's primary focus of youth-related activity in both the FSU and Baltic countries has been its extensive network of summer camps. The camps provide youth ages eight to 17 with an enjoyable and educational introduction to Jewish heritage. Through an up-close and personal experience, including Israel-centered programs and interaction with young counselors from both the FSU and Israel, participants are able to experience the true pride and joy of being Jewish.

The camp program has become the cultural lifeline for thousands of young Jews in this region. For the majority of participants, the camp experience is their only organized Jewish educational activity for the entire year and youth who were once ambivalent about being Jewish often uncover a deep sense of pride and connection to their heritage. As a result, many are more likely to enroll in Jewish youth clubs during the school year or take part in youth trips to Israel.
