
A Photography Contest in Celebration of Tel Aviv’s Centennial Tel Aviv
April 2009 marks the 100th anniversary of our partnership city, Tel Aviv – the economic, cultural and academic capital of Israel. In celebration of the occasion, we invite you to submit a single photograph that incorporates what this amazing city means to you. The contest is divided into three categories: • Amateur photographers ages 17 and under • Amateur photographers ages 18+ • Professional photographers The winning photographers in each category will receive a FREE trip to Israel. The entries will be juried by well-known professional photographers, curators & art critics from Tel Aviv and Los Angeles, as well as a lay committee representing both cities. 36 selected photographs will be featured in exhibits in Los Angeles, the Valley and Tel Aviv. All entries must be received by July 1, 2009. Whatever your vision of the first modern Hebrew city, share it and celebrate!  | Criteria: Only one photo entry per participant. The photograph should capture the city of Tel Aviv from your perspective. To participate, you must be a resident of the Los Angeles area served by The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. All materials must be received by July 1, 2009. Categories: • Amateur photographers ages 17 and under • Amateur photographers ages 18+ • Professional photographers Details: | • | 12 winning photographs will be selected in each category for a total of 36 photographs. | • | Winning photographs will be exhibited in the Bell Family Gallery in The Jewish Federation’s Goldsmith Center and the Finegood Gallery at The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance’s Bernard Milken Community Campus. | • | The collection of photographs will be presented to the Mayor of Tel Aviv as a gift to the city from its partner city, Los Angeles, for display in a yet to be determined public location. | • | The grand prize winner from each category will receive a trip to Israel to present the photographs as a gift to the City of Tel Aviv-Yafo. (Prize covers travel costs of recipient only.) |

| Submission Guidelines: | | • | Please submit an electronic JPEG file (1 MB maximum) on one (1) CD along with three (3) digital printouts on 8.5” x 11” photo-quality paper and presented in 3-hole-punched plastic sheet protectors. | | • | All information including category, your name, phone number, e-mail address, title, date, medium and dimensions must be written on the bottom right corner of the back side of the page. (Please indicate “top” of each submission.) | | • | Jurors will review only digital printouts of artwork. NO ACTUAL ARTWORK WILL BE REVIEWED BY THE JURORS during the selection process. | | • | Improperly labeled entries may be rejected. The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is not responsible for lost or damaged entries. Do not send résumés, bios or artist statements. | | • | All entries become property of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. | | • | No entry materials will be returned. Printouts and digital files of accepted work may be used by The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles for press and promotional materials. | | • | By submitting your photo, you are giving the Federation rights to reproduce and use your image in any way. | | • | If your entry is chosen, you will need to bring or send your final unframed print at desired display size to The Jewish Federation by August 15, 2009. |
