Taglit-birthright israel

Created in 2000, Taglit-birthright israel provides Diaspora Jewry between the ages of 18 and 26 a 10-day trip to Israel free of charge. Based on the belief that it is every Jewish person’s birthright to visit Israel, the only requirements for participation are a Jewish identity and that the person has never visited Israel. The program was founded with the goal of diminishing a growing division between Israel and Jewish communities around the world, strengthening the sense of solidarity among world Jewry, and solidifying participants’ personal Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish people.

The gift of the 10-day trip is provided through a partnership between North American Jewish federations, the government of Israel, and leading private philanthropists. In addition, The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has created its own Community Trip for young Angelenos between the ages of 22 and 26.

Since 2003, the Federation has also sponsored the birthright israel Alumni Association (BRIAA). BRIAA reaches the more than 6,000 local birthright alumni through ongoing cultural, social and educational programs, helping to extend the positive impact of the birthright trips, and cement lifelong relationships to the Jewish State.
