The services provided by the Federation and its agencies for youth and children are as varied as the children themselves, from mentoring, to literacy programs, to programs for children with special needs. KOREH L.A. As the leading volunteer literacy program in Los Angeles, the Federation’s KOREH L.A. is committed to helping all L.A. children to read. Each week, volunteers spend one hour reading with a pre-school or elementary school child. In just over seven years, the program has trained over 6,500 volunteers to work with more than 14,000 children in Los Angeles elementary and pre-schools. Gear Up for Camp Day Each year, the Federation helps more than 1,000 children from underserved communities get ready for camp by providing clothing, toiletries, laundry bags and other camp necessities so many of us take for granted.
