We Cannot Turn Away

We Can’t Turn Away

As this challenging year ends, I am deeply troubled.

This is a time of great uncertainty. In the past, the Jewish community has always been able to count on the strength of our communal institutions. As you know, in Los Angeles our Federation has been at the heart of Jewish life for over 104 years. We are the bedrock of the community.

We stood tall during the Great Depression and were deeply engaged in the establishment of the State of Israel. We have continually met the needs of the most vulnerable and are rising to the challenge of ensuring the Jewish future by investing in future generations.

That said, this is the time of year when we all receive urgent requests. I have made it a policy to not ask for your support in these letters. But given the challenges of this year, I must make an exception.

There has never been a greater urgency to support our Federation and the work we do. We cannot forget our deep responsibility to those suffering financially, to our aging Holocaust survivors, to our families struggling to provide a Jewish life to their children and to keep those families safe. Going forward, we do not know how government funding will be affected in a new administration. We need to redouble our advocacy efforts in Washington and in Sacramento.

I promise you that our Federation — your Federation — will do this and more.

As you reflect on your year-end giving, whether you have made a Federation gift or not, please be as generous as you can. Your gift makes it possible for us to do what is needed during this difficult time as we ensure the Jewish future for generations to come.

Please Give

We cannot turn away — and I hope you won't either.

Thank you for your continued support.

Happy New Year,

Jay Sanderson
