When it came time to celebrate Purim and Passover,
students at the Bialik-Rogozin School in Tel Aviv threw themselves
into preparations with excitement.
Rogozin students from kindergarten to 12th grade proudly showed
off their Purim costumes at a school-wide assembly, which featured
a dramatic reenactment of the Purim story. A few weeks later,
in honor of Passover, the children participated in a school-wide
Seder, where they read from the Hagaddah and ate all the matzah
they could get their hands on.
More than 700 students from different backgrounds,
countries, and faiths, including Jewish and Arab Israelis, new
immigrants,
and refugees from Sudan and Darfur, call the Rogozin School home.
It is one of four schools in Tel Aviv that The Jewish Federation
supports with an extended school-day program where children receive
hot meals, tutoring and enrichment activities in a safe, controlled
environment.
