Spotlight on Canoga Park Elementary

Principal Del Pino and Mr. Payne, our KOREH L.A. school coordinator, are behind the scenes of the KOREH L.A. program at Canoga Park Elementary School. Coordinating twenty-one KOREH L.A. volunteers is no easy task and they truly do a fantastic job!

Canoga Park Elementary School's mission is to educate all students to be literate, creative and collaborative thinkers, reach their academic and personal potential, and become lifelong learners and productive citizens in our diverse society. KOREH L.A. helps the students of Canoga Park Elementary School achieve this mission by providing reading mentors to work one-on-one with K-5th graders for one hour every week.

On Tuesday, February 7th Canoga Park Elementary School will host its annual Family Literacy Night. Students and families of all grade levels are invited to participate on campus from 5:00-7:00PM. This special evening features a tour of various activities that students and parents can do together, such as activities that highlight high-frequency words. Canoga Park Elementary School embraces the philosophy that a parent is a child's most important teacher. According to Mr. Payne, the goal of Family Literacy Night is, "to help parents help their children with literacy at home." In addition, Family Literacy Night is a great opportunity for parents to realize the importance of spending quality time with their children.

Did You Know? ...that every Friday at Canoga Park Elementary School is School Spirit Day! Students and teachers show their school pride by wearing "Canoga Park Elementary School Spirit Wear." If students don't have Spirit Wear then the school suggests wearing school colors, red and white.

Canoga Park Chant:

Canoga students rule!
We do our best in school!

We have a thirst for knowledge!
Our future goal is college!

We're better than the rest
We study for each test
And every day, in every way
We strive to be our best!
