Trainer’s Tips

By Miryam Jannol

“How do I find the good books that kids really want to read?” is often echoed by our volunteer reading partners. Many volunteers voice that they are frustrated and find it difficult to select books that hopefully will excite their children and keep reading fun. Where and how can you find the books that will really grab their attention?

To be able to connect your child with a “favorite” book let’s try this. A hub exists on the Internet that makes the works and lives of authors more accessible thorough a portal that collects amazing material from all over the Web. This rich and exciting hub is called “TeachingBooks.net” and the goal of the site is to give all “educators” and volunteers easy access to children’s book authors and authoritative tutoring resources. This huge multi-media children’s literature database uses “cutting-edge” technologies to connect you and your student with authors, books and teaching materials. The man responsible for launching this site claims that it is the ultimate children’s literature portal fully equipped with an index by grade, author, title and subject as well as multi-media programs freely available on the Web.

Check it out and see if you find the book that your student has been waiting for!
