The Board of Rabbis of Southern California serves the strategic initiatives of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles - Ensuring the Jewish Future, Caring for Jews in Need, Engaging the Community - by bringing together over 330 rabbis representing the Conservative, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, Reform and transdenominational streams of Jewish life.
The Board of Rabbis of Southern California produces and sponsors programs for its members and for the Jewish community at-large in the following areas.
Community Learning ... A variety of opportunities for individuals, lay leaders, and Jewish communities to engage in Talmud Torah, a lifelong engagement in Jewish learning
Interreligious Action Center ... Clergy seminars, public programs and interfaith missions designed to present a balanced and nuanced vision of Israel, and to foster knowledge and understanding with clergy and leaders from Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu and other faith communities.
Professional Development ... We provide our members with opportunities to develop their skills as religious leaders, as heads of organizations, and as pastoral care givers through programs designed specifically for their needs as rabbis in the twenty-first century.
Social Justice ... Locally, nationally, and internationally, the Board of Rabbis seeks the well-being of all humanity through its leadership and involvement in programs and activities that seek to repair our world.
Healing & Spirituality ... The Board of Rabbis actively engages in gemilut hasadim (acts of loving kindness) by supporting, developing or administering chaplaincy and other programs for Jews in need of physical and spiritual healing.
Talmud Torah for Colleagues ... the Board provides ongoing opportunities for its members to advance their skills and interests through programs of professional growth and development.
Israel ... The Board of Rabbis provides opportunities to show public support for the State of Israel, sponsoring community-wide festivals and other events, and providing educational speakers and resources to non-Jewish communities.
Leaders on Leadership
Being a leader is not only about setting an example—it’s about spiritual growth and self discovery. The Jewish Federation / Board of Rabbis will explore this journey throughout the year at our Leaders on Leadership monthly luncheon series. Leaders on Leadership features distinguished rabbis and scholars from our community in a warm and relaxed environment. Federation leadership, staff and Board of Rabbis members are invited to spend the lunch hour learning together. Kosher lunch provided.
