Los Angeles Community Mission to Israel

In Celebration of The Jewish Federation's Centennial
October 23 – November 1, 2011

When Angelenos travel to Israel as a community to learn, explore, eat, sing, dance and pray, it’s not just a trip, it’s the trip of a lifetime.

Whether you are going for your first time or your fifteenth, with your synagogue or friends, the Los Angeles Community Mission to Israel will change you forever.

To make this mission as unique as each traveler, we’re creating a host of tracks, dedicated to individual interests. You can visit an archeological treasure to see history come to life, meet an artist in Tel Aviv before she becomes world-famous, tour an IDF base, walk the halls of the Knesset, explore the Old City, or learn about cutting-edge technology.

Whatever your interest, you can follow your heart, practice your Hebrew in the streets, and celebrate 100 years of Jewish life in Los Angeles with our family in Israel.

As you might expect, in addition to seeing the sights, meeting leaders and trend setters, and learning how our support touches lives in the Jewish homeland, we’re creating three spectacular community-wide events that will bring us together:

  • In Tel Aviv, we’ll share a cultural celebration without equal, including opera, dance, TV, film and art.
  • In the Southern Negev, we’ll sing and dance with the new pioneers of the Jewish State, young people living near David Ben-Gurion’s birthplace and creating the new Israel in the desert.
  • In Jerusalem, we’ll gather at the Kotel to welcome Shabbat, recite the Shehechiyanu at the promenade with the Mayor of Jerusalem, and enjoy a fabulous closing gala with President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu (schedules permitting).
