The Many Ways to Get Involved with Our Federation
We touch every Jewish life in Los Angeles, Israel and the world — starting with yours.
For those in their 20s and 30s
Connect to other young adults in their 20s and 30s through social, educational, volunteer, and leadership opportunities:
- NuRoots (neighborhood-based communities, collaborations and events)
- Young Adults of Los Angeles (YALA)
- RuJuLA (Russian Jewish heritage)
- LA Couples (committed young couples)
- Community Leadership Institute (CLI)
Get Down to Business, Connect and Network
We have many ways to make business and personal connections through a Jewish lens:
Make a Difference in Our City
Volunteer on any of our six Community Service Days throughout the year — each offering diverse projects across greater Los Angeles. If you're looking for an ongoing opportunity to make a difference, volunteer as a reading partner to an LAUSD elementary school student through KOREH L.A., our Federation's literacy program. Exercise your Jewish civic leadership by taking part in our Rautenberg New Leaders Project or Community Engagement Council. Whatever you choose, you'll make a better Los Angeles for us all.
Experience the Power of Women's Philanthropy
Our Federation's Sylvia Weisz Women's Philanthropy is a diverse community of compassionate Jewish women bound by shared values and generous support of our Federation's life-changing work. With dynamic events like the Susan S. Pritzker Speaker Series, Community of Professional Women, L'dor V'dor, It Takes A Woman, and many other important briefings and volunteer opportunities, we blend the power of women with communal impact.
Go on an Unforgettable Journey
Our exciting, one-of-a-kind missions include destinations like Israel, Cuba, Europe and countries around the world, with exclusive access to high-level leaders and specialized briefings. You'll connect with Jews who share your values, explore historically rich locales, bond with your travel mates, and see firsthand our Federation's impact on Jewish communities worldwide.
If you have young children, take advantage of our PJ Library® program in Los Angeles and receive free Jewish-themed books and music delivered to your home each month. Plus, our Community Connectors will bring you together with other families and opportunities in our Jewish community geared toward you — and your young ones. Other opportunities throughout the year allow you to get your whole family involved in our community.
Roll Up Your Sleeves and Help Us Accomplish the Extraordinary
Thoughtful, informed, and first-hand involvement of passionate community members like you helps make our Federation’s work even stronger. Consider participating on a committee within one of our three strategic initiatives: Caring for Jews in Need, Engaging with Our Community, and Ensuring the Jewish Future. There are also subcommittees and working groups in all facets of our Federation, allowing our community to benefit from your knowledge, expertise, and skills.
From the Valleys to the South Bay to Downtown
The greater Los Angeles area is vast. But with connections to Jewish life and events in the San Fernando, Conejo, Simi, Santa Clarita, and Antelope Valleys, as well as in the South Bay and beach communities, downtown, and beyond, The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and our Valley Alliance make L.A. feel smaller.
Your gift to our Annual Campaign supports our Federation's critical initiatives and programs. We also offer opportunities to make a significant impact in an area that aligns with your philanthropic passion. Depending on your giving level, you can also enjoy exclusive events with prestigious speakers and entertainers, see the world through a Jewish lens on exclusive international missions, connect with other generous philanthropists, take advantage of personalized travel itineraries, and much more.
