Nepal: How You Can Help
As you know, Nepal’s recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake claimed the lives of more than 4,600 victims, with over 9,000 injured, and tens of thousands homeless survivors grappling with hunger and loss. These numbers continue to grow.
As Angelenos, we are all too familiar with the devastation earthquakes can cause. With thousands of miles separating us from Nepal, it’s easy to feel helpless about what we can’t do from here.
Fortunately, there is something you can do right now to support survivors and their families. Two Jewish humanitarian organizations are providing immediate relief efforts to Nepal—and your generosity can help them reach even more people in need during this crisis.
If you’d like to make a donation, we encourage you to direct your efforts to the below organizations:
- IsraAID For over a decade, IsraAID has been helping people all over the world overcome extreme crises and has provided millions with the vital support needed to move from destruction to reconstruction, and eventually, to sustainable living.
- The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) JDC is the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian assistance organization, impacting millions of lives in more than 70 countries. JDC’s Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund will provide urgent medical relief and aid supplies, including neonatal incubators, and is helping the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) set up an Israeli field hospital. Money donated to this fund will also establish temporary learning spaces, address the needs of children (including shelter, water, nutrition and sanitation), and help earthquake victims rebuild their homes.
Thank you for your support and for keeping the people of Nepal in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
