Each May, communities and organizations across the nation pay tribute to Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) – a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Jewish Americans to our nation’s history, culture, and society. Established in 2006, JAHM commemorates more than 350 years of Jewish history in the U.S., highlighting the rich traditions, achievements, and resilience of the Jewish American community.
This year, Los Angeles is JAHM’s featured city. Throughout May, citywide programming will celebrate the vital contributions of the Jewish community to America’s cultural, civic, and artistic legacy.
The Los Angeles Jewish community has played a central role in shaping our city’s cultural, civic, and social landscape. From impacting the establishment of Hollywood studios to building robust philanthropic and social service organizations to advancing educational and community activism initiatives, Jewish history is our city’s history.
