A Vital First Step Toward Protecting Jewish College Students

We welcome the settlement reached today between the University of California and Jewish students at UCLA. Accountability is a vital first step to ensuring that the mistakes made by the university, leaving Jewish students vulnerable and endangered, should not happen again. We appreciate the UC’s stated commitment to protecting Jewish students and combating antisemitism, which is encouraging. Our Jewish students, like all students, must be protected and able to learn in a secure environment, free from harassment, bullying, and hate.

We also commend those Jewish students who bravely came forward to protect their civil rights. While no settlement can erase the sense of isolation and fear that so many Jewish students continue to feel, this settlement clearly affirms: antisemitism has no place at UCLA or on any campus.

We hope that moving forward, Jewish students can make their voices heard, feel protected on campus, and hold our educational institutions accountable. We remain committed to working with university partners, student leaders, and community stakeholders to foster a campus environment rooted in safety, inclusion, and respect for all.

Your support is instrumental in keeping Jewish college students safe. Together, let’s continue to protect our community and combat antisemitism on campus.
