Playing it Forward — Championing Jewish Values in Sports at City Hall
May 15th | 10:00 AM –12:00 PM
Celebrate the power of sports to uplift core Jewish values. Co-sponsored by JFEDLA, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, Jewish Historical Society, and JAHM Los Angeles, this flagship JAHM event will highlight sports figures throughout history with stories at the intersection of athletics and values-driven impact.

Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival
May 12th – May 19th
Honor the rich tapestry of Jewish heritage through cinema during this community-building festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Latin-Jewish Film Festival
Now through May 31st
We are proud to support the Latin-Jewish Film Festival, hosted by our partners Jewtina y Co., which uplifts the vibrant and often overlooked stories at the intersection of Latin American and Jewish identities. Check out the events on May 18th (a screening of “They Called Us Trujillo’s Jews” in Encino) and May 31st (a celebratory double feature to close out the festival in Studio City).

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
JAHM Goes School-Wide
JFEDLA created a series of posters for use across local school districts that feature prominent Jewish Americans whose achievements have had a lasting impact on U.S. history, culture, and society. Each poster features a QR code linking to educator resources and lesson plans designed for K–12 classrooms across subject areas, including language arts, social studies, music, art, and library.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Shemesh Farms in Malibu
May 17th | 1:00 – 4:00 PM
In partnership with L.A. Works, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on volunteer experience at Shemesh Farms, a Malibu-based, Jewish social enterprise and therapeutic farm. Together, we’ll help expand the farm by clearing new land, planting native species, and building a garden bed. The day will also include interactive learning around sustainability through creative, farm-based activities.

Adamah at Wattles Farm in Hollywood
May 17th | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Join Adamah, a Jewish network of organizations taking climate action, for a Community Gardening Day focused on science, sustainability, and food justice. Participants will tour the farm, plant and volunteer in the garden, and explore how food insecurity connects to the climate crisis.

Friends of Ballona Wetlands in Playa del Rey

Together, let’s protect nature. Help restore biodiversity to L.A.’s last coastal wetland by removing invasive, non-native plants.
