When disaster strikes, it can reshape lives forever. The recent Palisades and Eaton fires devastated our community—over 1,000 Jewish homes were destroyed, three vibrant houses of worship were deeply impacted, and more than 50 Jewish-owned businesses were wiped out. Beyond the immediate damage, the long-term impact on families and the fabric of Jewish life is profound. Trauma and displacement can alter life trajectories and weaken communal bonds.
At JFEDLA, we believe that in times of crisis, we must step up to protect our future. That’s why we are building several strategic funds designed to address the urgent needs of Jewish families and uphold our collective commitment to Jewish life.
Through our Wildfire Crisis Fund, we are launching the HUG (Helping Uplift Generations) fund to ensure Jewish futures remain bright:
Jewish Early Childhood Education Tuition Reduction
For families affected by the 2025 wildfires, we are offering a 50% tuition reduction for children attending Jewish Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs in the Los Angeles area. This support allows families to maintain their children’s development in a nurturing Jewish environment. It also serves as a welcoming invitation to families who may be exploring Jewish education for the first time. Funds will be provided directly to schools as a tuition reduction.
Jewish Overnight Summer Camp Assistance Fund
Jewish overnight summer camp is more than a seasonal retreat—it’s a cornerstone of Jewish identity. For families affected by the 2025 wildfires, we are offering 50% tuition assistance for California Jewish sleepaway camps. This support is also available to families new to the Jewish overnight camp experience.
Professional Serving the Jewish Community
Our community is powered by dedicated Jewish communal professionals—clergy, educators, and organizational leaders. Many of these families lost their homes and livelihoods in the fires. We owe it to them to give back. This fund provides assistance (support?) to help these vital professionals rebuild their lives as they continue to serve the Jewish community.
Together with so many generous members of our community, JFedLA is committed to preserving Jewish futures and ensuring that families can rebuild with dignity, resilience, and hope. By investing in these funds, you are investing in the future of Jewish life in Los Angeles.
Join us. Together, we will rebuild. Together, we will thrive.
