On March 13, Jews observe the Fast of Esther, Ta’anit Esther, to remember the fast that Queen Esther asks of the Jews of Shushan when they are facing an existential threat from Haman. Queen Esther makes that communal request because she will risk her life in approaching King Ahasuerus to intercede and eliminate that threat.
Through helping those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, which devastated thousands of families, we connect to our values with Jewish tradition, enabling those in need to feel the support of a community committed to justice and compassion. The request is to contribute an amount equal to what would be (or is) spent on food that day to a fund helping victims where it is needed most.
