Join us for an evening with career advancement experts to explore best practices for jumpstarting your professional life. Learn how to best position, articulate, and leverage your experiences and stand out in the job market. The program will feature resume consultants, a former Google recruiter, and a career coach who can answer the questions you can’t find online or have been too embarrassed to ask.

About the panelists

Jason Youdeem is the Los Angeles Fellows Manager for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. The AIPAC Fellows Program is a unique, mission-driven, sales team deployed in key areas of the country to facilitate the achievement of AIPAC’s annual fundraising goals. In his current role Jason is responsible for the development, recruitment, and training, of the Los Angeles Fellows team.

Jason began his career with AIPAC in Los Angeles and Orange County where he was responsible grassroots mobilization, development, community education, political engagement and donor relations in the Greater Los Angeles area. Prior to his current role, Jason worked at Google as a Technical Recruiter focused on hiring software engineers for Android, Chrome, and Google Cardboard.

Jason is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles, where he focused on Globalization and Political Science. Jason is also a graduate of PresenTenseLA, a social entrepreneurship incubator and a board member of 30 YEARS AFTER where he created and launched the Maher Fellowship, a six-month leadership training program for Iranian American Jews.

Marcy Newman is a higher education professional, college instructor, career coach and speaker. She serves as the Director of Campus Partnerships for Career and Professional Development at Loyola Marymount University. In her role, Marcy spearheads innovative collaborations between her team and a variety of student-facing departments including Athletics, Greek Life, and Ethnic and Intercultural Services to provide customized career programming and support. She works closely with internal stakeholders to offer opportunities to guide LMU students in their vocational discernment.

Her interests include mentoring, teaching and coaching college students to become connected and invested in their college careers and beyond. She enjoys supporting individuals post-college with navigating their career paths through personalized career coaching. Marcy is an enthusiastic relationship-builder who enjoys providing individuals with resources to thrive in their career pursuits. In her role as a career coach, Marcy guides individuals in topics surrounding their professional and personal development. She speaks at universities to support groups such as fraternity and sorority communities, showcasing how to leverage their leadership experience within their academic and career goals. Marcy has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Cal State Northridge and a Master of Education in PostSecondary Administration & Student Affairs from the University of Southern California, where she graduated both cum laude.

Cindy Kaplan hails from Brooklyn. She graduated from Brandeis University with a BA in American Studies. Her first big gig was as an assistant to a literary manager who also managed a film development database. There, in partnership with Red Varden Studios, she hired, mentored, and managed numerous teams of more than a dozen interns. She then moved over to Kids at Play, where she developed, wrote, and produced content for outlets including Disney Junior, Yahoo!, VEVO, and Electus. Currently, she is an account manager at Signal Entertainment Marketing, a product placement firm. Cindy also freelances as a writer/producer, and her short documentary Two Faiths One Prayer has gained worldwide media coverage.

Moderator Lori Klein is Senior Vice-President of the Caring for Jews in Need program at the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. Prior to beginning this position in April 2012, Lori served for four and a half years as the Associate Director of the School of Jewish Nonprofit Management at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, in Los Angeles. She is a 1991 alumna of the program, holding a Master of Arts in Jewish Communal Service. She also holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. Lori has held programming and fundraising positions in various settings in the Jewish community, including Federations, a Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Service, a synagogue, and a Jewish day school. She has expertise in organizational development, board development, program development, and supervision and mentoring.

Angela Silak is originally from Texas and graduated from Duke University with a BA in History and moved to LA in 2009. She completed several internships while working on a master’s degree in Communication Management from the University of Southern California. Then, she held assistant positions at TheWrap and 3 Ball Productions before making her way to Nickelodeon to pursue her passion for children’s television. Angela is currently a development executive in the Nickelodeon Original Movies department and recently completed a second master’s degree in Educational Studies from Loyola Marymount University.
