Welcoming the Stranger: A Jewish Call to Action for Refugees & Asylum Seekers

Free

Over the last year, the number of refugees and displaced people across the world has grown to more than 70 million – more than any time in history – while here in the U.S., historic protections for refugees and asylum seekers are being eroded.

Join Melanie Nezer, HIAS’ Senior Vice President for Public Affairs, for a conversation with Rabbi Neil Comess-Daniels of Beth Shir Shalom, Kimberley Plotnick of the ADL, and Robyn Samuels of Leo Baeck Temple. Together, these experts will shed light on HIAS’ advocacy and grassroots organizing efforts at a time when so many people in the Jewish community and beyond are appalled by what’s happening and are aching to learn and do more as individuals, congregations, and beyond.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration through the link below is required.

Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7pm at Beth Shir Shalom in Santa Monica
