Yemin Orde Youth Choir Sings at Beth Jacob Congregation
Join us for an evening of inspiration and song as the Yemin Orde Youth Village Choir joins with other Los Angeles area children’s choir’s to present a musical program that will delight and inspire you. Local youth choirs also participating will include Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy and Shalhevet High School.
Yemin Orde is a home, school and safe haven for 440 at-risk immigrant youth who have suffered severe trauma. At Yemin Orde, their troubled lives are transformed as they receive a quality education and embrace hope for a bright future as citizens of Israel.
Choir members range in age from 15 to 18 years old and are from Ethiopia, France, former Soviet Union and Brazil, as well as Israel-born and reflect the diversity of the youth who live and learn at Yemin Orde. The choir performs classic and popular Israeli works as well as original songs written by the teens.
The choir will be on a two-week performance tour of the United States. It is the choir’s first return to the U.S. since a 2010 wildfire destroyed 40 percent of the Village. Today, the Village is rebuilt and restored to its original beauty high atop Mt. Carmel in northern Israel.
Don’t miss this uplifting and unique performance and opportunity to meet Israel’s next generation of leaders.
