In April, we put the values of community and heritage in action with Passover celebrations that brought together friends and neighbors from all over the vibrant city we love.
HONORING RENEWAL AND RESILIENCE AT OUR INTERFAITH SEDER
Community can carry us through any crisis. At our Interfaith Seder — From Hardship to Hope: The Power of Collective Strength — more than 200 civic and elected leaders, clergy, and first responders — including those who answered the call during the wildfires — came together at the Museum of Tolerance for a meaningful night of solidarity centered on the Passover story.
Rooted in the holiday’s universal themes of liberation and renewal, the evening celebrated our city’s collective resilience. The program honored those impacted by the wildfires while uplifting our interfaith and civic partnerships. From stirring choir performances to an interactive origami installation, the night was a testament to our commitment to building a more compassionate and unified Los Angeles.

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF COLLECTIVE ESCAPE
For the past decade, Collective Escape — the citywide Passover festival from our young adult initiative NuRoots — has reimagined the Passover experience in a way that gives young people the chance to explore our heritage on their own terms.
This year’s festival began with Our Echo, a ritual gathering of sound and soul, then unfolded across the city through an eclectic mix of creative, inclusive experiences. At Project Angel Food in Lincoln Heights, participants prepared more than 1,500 meals at a food justice event hosted by Repair the World, giving new expression to Passover’s themes of reflection, resilience, and liberation. In Cheviot Hills, we proudly supported The LUNAR Collective’s Our Seder, Our Stories: An Asian Jewish Passover. Another highlight of Collective Escape was our Superhosting initiative with OneTable, which empowered young adults to host 42 Seders that welcomed more than 500 guests into their homes.
This is just a small taste of the dynamic programming Collective Escape offers young adults from all over our diverse and magical city.
