Federation Impact Update — April 2026

Because of your support, Jewish Los Angeles continues to come together for moments of joy, connection, and shared purpose. From celebrating our traditions in creative ways to standing in solidarity with Israel, here are just a few of the ways your philanthropy is making an impact on the community we love.

FEELING PASSOVER JOY THROUGH COLLECTIVE ESCAPE

Joy spreads far and wide when our community comes together in creative ways. Our young adult initiative NuRoots’ 11th citywide Passover festival, Collective Escape, helped more than 1,000 young adults across Los Angeles celebrate the holiday with courage and imagination. Through our partnership with OneTable, we made opening the door to joyful Jewish life easy and fun, supporting 43 Seder Superhosts with resources that helped them welcome over 500 guests into their homes, creating spaces for storytelling, unity, and new friendships. In neighborhoods all over the city, 12 partner events brought together hundreds of more people, each get-together sparking connection, creativity, and warmth. The festival culminated in Mimouna Rising, a vibrant, Moroccan-inspired celebration in Lincoln Heights that honored the ritual of returning, where restriction gave way to openness on a night when 75 participants celebrated renewal, blessing, and possibility.

CELEBRATING ISRAEL AT 78

Solidarity with Israel was palpable this Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day, as JFEDLA, our Board of Rabbis, and congregations across the San Fernando Valley brought together more than 600 community members for Kol Ha’am: A Musical Salute to Israel, a joyful evening of Jewish pride at the Eretz Cultural Center in Tarzana. Featuring musical performances by choirs, cantors, and students, along with a dazzling routine by the critically acclaimed Keshet Chaim Dance Ensemble, we honored the miracle of Israel as it marks 78 years, creating a unifying opportunity for our L.A. Jewish community to stand in solidarity with Israel.

PUTTING INCLUSIVITY IN ACTION WITH SHEMESH FARMS

Inclusivity strengthens our entire community. Shemesh Farms is a trusted JFEDLA partner that supports our neurodiverse friends and neighbors by giving them meaningful vocational skills through roles as Farm Fellows. At a recent Caring for Jews in Need (CJIN) site visit to Shemesh Farms’ Skirball Cultural Center location, community members saw firsthand how Farm Fellows build confidence through hands-on work. From planting and harvesting organic herbs to participating in art and mindfulness activities, Fellows gain a sense of purpose at Shemesh Farms, a caring environment rooted in Jewish values.

CJIN puts inclusivity and compassion in action in so many impactful ways. Find out how you can get involved at JewishLA.org/CJIN.
