Federation Impact Update — December 2025

Your generous and vital support is the light of our Jewish community. You uplift families in need, build bridges with civic leaders, and create joyful experiences for children and young adults. Thank you for letting your light shine on Jewish Los Angeles this December.

GIVING JOY TO CHILDREN IN NEED THROUGH OUR TOY & BOOK DRIVE

Kindness and joy thrived in Los Angeles during our 20th Annual Festival of Lights Toy & Book Drive, which brightened the holiday season for local children and families in need. This long-standing tradition reflects who we are: a community that shows up with compassion for our neighbors. By donating a toy or book, members of our community put a smile on a child’s face while strengthening the network of care we’ve built with partners citywide.

HONORING RESILIENCE AND UNITY AT OUR L.A. LEADERS HANUKKAH CELEBRATION

Community shines brightest when we stand together. At our annual L.A. Leaders Hanukkah Celebration — United in Light, Together We Shine — we convened elected, civic, interfaith, and community leaders for a celebration in Downtown L.A.’s Grand Park, honoring the universal themes of Hanukkah. In a year marked by numerous challenges and renewal, we celebrated our shared resilience, illuminated our shared values, and reaffirmed our commitment to supporting one another.

BRINGING HANUKKAH MAGIC TO FAMILIES AT L.A. ZOO LIGHTS

Jewish joy radiated through the night at our NuBloom L.A. Zoo Lights celebration, where children experienced the wonder of Hanukkah while forming early connections to our Jewish community and to Israel. The event, one of the most anticipated and beloved on the NuBloom calendar, sold out 250 tickets within minutes of registration opening. Families enjoyed a Hanukkah sing-along, learned how to play dreidel from our Shinshinim (young Israeli leaders who serve as ambassadors to Jewish communities), and lit the fifth candle in community while devouring churros and hot cocoa and taking in dazzling lantern-lit displays at the L.A. Zoo. It was a joyful and meaningful space for families to celebrate the holiday and for children to build a strong Jewish identity from an early age.

SPREADING JEWISH JOY CITYWIDE THROUGH INFINITE LIGHT

Now in its 11th year, Infinite Light, the citywide Hanukkah festival from our young adult initiative NuRoots, is Jewish pride fueled by Jewish joy. The festival started with First Night, where 167 of Jewish L.A.’s finest came together for dancing, tacos, pickle martinis, and a communal menorah lighting ceremony. There were also 55 Shabbanukkah Superhost dinners that welcomed 685 people around shared tables from Camarillo to Culver City. In all, 15 events — including 12 partner programs and three original NuRoots experiences — activated joyful Jewish life for young adults across our city.
