Your steadfast support helps JFEDLA continue to turn our shared Jewish values into meaningful impact. Your generosity ensures that our community remains inclusive, informed, and joyful. Here are just a few of the ways your philanthropy strengthened Jewish Los Angeles this February.
PUTTING INCLUSION IN ACTION DURING JDAIM
Inclusion is vital to creating a strong Jewish community where everyone feels like they belong. Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month (JDAIM) honors our longstanding commitment to care for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). During a JDAIM Community Service Day event at Friendship Circle LA — an organization dedicated to accepting, supporting, and befriending people with special needs — volunteers and young people participated in an inclusive mitzvah project, making 276 hygiene kits which will be distributed to our unhoused neighbors served by Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System, our Civic Partner. Through impactful volunteer opportunities like the mitzvah project, you continue to lovingly include and support individuals and families in the IDD community.

EDUCATING OUR COMMUNITY AT THE GOVERNOR CANDIDATE FORUM
An informed community is an empowered community. Steve Hilton, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, Tom Steyer, Rep. Eric Swalwell, and former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa came together for the Jewish California Governor 2026 Candidate Forum, where community members heard the candidates directly address the issues shaping Jewish life in California. The forum, presented by JFEDLA along with Jewish California (formerly JPAC), JCRC Bay Area, and the Skirball Cultural Center, ensured our community learned each candidate’s views on combating antisemitism and strengthening community security, K-12 education, the California–Israel relationship, and social safety net programs rooted in Jewish values. Held at Skirball and moderated by Emmy Award-winning journalist Alex Cohen, the forum was the largest statewide gathering of Jewish voters this election cycle, marking a critical moment in the 2026 race and emphasizing the growing civic engagement of California’s Jewish communities.

SPREADING TU B’SHEVAT JOY AT NUBLOOM FAMILY CAMP
Joy filled Camp Ramah in Ojai during the 22nd NuBloom Family Camp Retreat, as 34 families with young children came together for a weekend of celebration and discovery. Centered on Tu B’Shevat (the New Year for Trees), the retreat strengthened families’ connection with the holiday and each other. From musical Shabbat services to a creative “Tu B’Shevat Growth Crawl” where kids felt the wonder of nature firsthand to a magical Saturday night Havdalah bonfire under the stars, the weekend created lasting memories for parents and children alike.
