Interview with Rob and Jess, 2017-2018 LA Couples Co-Chairs

LA Couples is Federation’s 18-month program that introduces couples to L.A. Jewish life, local leaders, and the world of Jewish philanthropy — simultaneously connecting participants to their own partners and to other couples at a similar life stage. LA Couples provides participants the opportunity to attend exclusive events, be inspired by mentors, and learn from community leaders and trailblazers. This program is about personal growth, building new friendships, and strengthening relationships with your partner.

To learn more about the impact of LA Couples, and why you should apply today, check out our interview with LA Couples Co-Chairs Rob and Jess Enayati.

What attracted you to Federation’s LA Couples?
The promise of making friends with other likeminded couples.

What was one of your favorite memories with LA Couples? What did you enjoy most about the program?
We really enjoyed being introduced to the PJ Library. We had never heard of it before and look forward to signing up and having Jewish-themed children’s books sent to our home every month!

What have you gained from this experience as a whole?
Lifelong friends and feeling more connected with the L.A. Jewish community.

Can you tell us about your Federation involvement?
Rob is involved with the Real Estate and Construction (REC) group, and Jessica is involved with Sylvia Weisz Women’s Philanthropy and the new Y&S Nazarian Iranian Young Leadership Initiative. Prior to joining LA Couples, neither of us was involved in these groups.

Why did you decide to co-chair the next cohort of LA Couples for 2017-2018
We feel passionately about the program and want to share its benefits with others.

Why should young couples apply for LA Couples?
LA Couples provides the opportunity to meet other couples in the community, network, and learn about the wonderful work of The Jewish Federation in the community.

What is one of your favorite Jewish traditions or experiences?
Shabbat dinner has to be one of our favorite Jewish traditions — we look forward to seeing our families every week.

Why is being involved in the Jewish community important?
It’s rewarding and helps us keep connected with our heritage.
