Community Resources
Our Jewish family in Israel is facing an unimaginable crisis, marked by unbearable tragedy and uncertainty. Our hearts are broken as we work to meet the overwhelming needs of our Israeli community. In addition to our deep commitment to stand in solidarity with Israel through our emergency campaign, we are supporting and mobilizing our community in Los Angeles and Israel in the following ways.
JFEDLA’s Warm Line
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, we are here. Contact our Community Call Line at 855-JFED-HLP. Currently calls are monitored Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
Report Antisemitism
Members of our local community are being targeted by harassment and violence. You are advised to use the ADL’s incident report form if you witness or experience antisemitism.
Elevate Awareness of Hostage Situations
Here is a list of names of civilian hostages as well downloadable flyers to distribute to alert others of this horror.
Resources for Educators
Help students process the devastation, gain a deeper understanding of the conflict, and access the tools to help combat antisemitism. Share these resources to assist in navigating these difficult discussions.
Say Kaddish – (the Jewish prayer of mourning)
We invite you to adopt one person from this list and say Kaddish for them so that their memory may be a blessing: https://www.kan.org.il/content/kan-news/defense/559346/
Thank Elected Leaders
Let our elected leaders who support Israel know how grateful we are for their support by dropping them a line like this:
“Thank you for your unequivocal support of Israel, and for denouncing the brutal, barbaric, and unprovoked attack by the terrorist organization Hamas. Your leadership and solidarity with Israel and the Jewish community is noticed and appreciated.”
Volunteer in Israel
Taglit-Birthright Israel is offering volunteer opportunities for young adults between the ages of 18-40 who would like to give on-the-ground support to our Israeli family. You are eligible to volunteer even if you have previously taken a Birthright trip.
Resources for Israelis in Israel
Here are some useful websites for Israelis in need, including a site that aggregates different civilian command centers, a hotline in multiple languages for those experiencing emotional distress, and a site for Israelis interested in providing civilian military aid.
