Letters, Light and Love: A Night of Resilience and Hope

Monday, October 19th | UCLA’s Historic Royce Hall

A Powerful Event, for One Night Only

Join the Los Angeles Jewish community at UCLA’s Royce Hall for Letters, Light and Love, an unforgettable one-night-only theatrical experience bringing together an extraordinary cast of artists and some of the most enduring voices in Jewish history.

Presented by JFEDLA, in partnership with producers Lawrence Bender, Nathan Hochman, Michal Noé, and Sarah Sultman MBE, Letters, Light and Love, which sold out London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket and New York’s Carnegie Hall, tells the story of the Jewish people and their connection to each other and their homeland from across the world through authentic letters spanning more than two thousand years. Drawn from philosophers, artists, pioneers, Holocaust survivors, statesmen, and ordinary men and women, the letters, accompanied by song, weave together a powerful story of identity, resilience, and hope. Beyond fundraising, it is an evening about memory, culture and the enduring power of storytelling—one that seeks not to make a political statement, but to tell a timeless human story.

We are delighted that the former hostage Eliya Cohen and his new wife Ziv Abud will be joining us on the night to read a letter to the audience.

Letters, Light and Love Serves Three Vital Purposes

Solidarity & Jewish Pride
Come together with the Los Angeles Jewish community to proudly stand with Israel and affirm our shared commitment to its future.

Education & Resilience
Through moving readings and storytelling, the performance offers an opportunity to learn, reflect, and better understand the experiences of Israelis and others whose lives were forever changed by October 7th.

Fundraising
Proceeds from the Los Angeles performance will support the Sha’ar HaNegev Community & Resilience Village, a groundbreaking project in Israel’s south dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities heal and rebuild.

Rebuilding Sha’ar HaNegev

The devastation of October 7th displaced thousands of Sha’ar HaNegev residents, while many lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods, and their sense of security.

The Sha’ar HaNegev Community & Resilience Village is being built to help this community heal and create a stronger future. The Village will bring together emotional and therapeutic support, social services, education, recreation, arts and culture, and professional training in an integrated community campus. It will help develop new approaches to resilience and trauma care that can strengthen communities facing crisis in Israel and around the world.

By attending Letters, Light and Love, you will be supporting this life-changing, globally significant project.
