Israeli chef, spice blender, and owner of La Boîte — a popular biscuits and spice shop in New York City — Lior shares stories from his journey as an Israeli army sergeant to becoming one of the most respected chefs and spice masters in the culinary world.

Lior tells Jay about growing up on a kibbutz in 1970s Israel at a time when the local food scene was not very diverse or inspiring. When he was young, a visit to Tunisia to visit his grandfather sparked his passion for cooking and spices and a discovery of different types of cuisine and street food that existed in Israel. Lior expresses his belief that, as a chef, it is his responsibility to help provide the tools and a place for people from all different walks of life to come together around the dinner table and create a sense of community.
