Ziegler Israel Experience Scholarships
In partnership with the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles, JFEDLA offers the Ziegler Israel Experience Scholarship, a need-based youth travel scholarship for families of teenagers seeking additional financial support to travel to Israel over the summer with a youth program. Who Qualifies?
To qualify for the Ziegler Israel Experience Scholarship, an applicant must:
- Identify as Jewish.
- Be a current high school student with a permanent address in the Greater Los Angeles area. Please refer to the Study of Jewish LA (p. 4) for details.
- Be attending a youth program trip to Israel for the first time.
- Demonstrate financial need through the application.
What Type of Trip Qualifies?
To be eligible for the Ziegler Israel Experience Scholarship, an applicant must be enrolled in a qualifying youth program trip. To qualify, a trip must:
- Be sponsored and organized through an approved provider or program of study.
- Spend between two weeks and four months in Israel
- Cost at minimum $3,000, excluding airfare.
How Much Assistance Might I Receive?
Award amounts are calculated considering factors such as financial need, application content, total program cost, and time of submission. The maximum award will not surpass 50% of the program tuition cost.
Is There an Application Deadline?
Applications are considered as they are received and while funds remain. Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
