Protecting Our Communities, Upholding Our Values

With domestic terrorism on the rise in the United States, Jewish Americans are at risk. We must take bold action to protect ourselves.

Last week, JFEDLA came together with leaders from 100 Jewish communities and over 50 national organizations, representing 7.5 million Jewish Americans, for an emergency leadership mission in Washington, D.C. The mission — organized by the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations — united Americans of all faiths, advocating to make our communities safer.

Our JFEDLA delegation met with the offices of Senator Adam Schiff and Representatives Luz Rivas, Laura Friedman, Judy Chu, Jimmy Gomez, Erick Aguilar, and Gil Cisneros.

With a unified voice, we called on the federal government to act on the Jewish Community’s Six-Point Policy on Security. This plan, supported by 46 Jewish organizations from across the political spectrum, includes increasing funding for security at nonprofits and Jewish institutions, bolstering law enforcement and intelligence capabilities, and holding social media and tech companies accountable for amplifying hate. These measures are vital to ensuring that Jewish Americans can safely gather, worship, and thrive.

We need your help to amplify our efforts in D.C. Please take a moment to contact your members of Congress today and urge them to support our security strategy by filling out the form below. Your voice is vital.

Rooted in our deep Jewish values of compassion and pursuing justice, this moment also calls on us to do more than protect our own community. In a climate of rising xenophobia, antisemitism, and hate, we must stand in solidarity with other vulnerable groups and the nonprofit organizations that support them, many of which are also at risk.

Together, let’s rise to this challenge by speaking out, showing up, and leading with courage, empathy, and a shared responsibility for all.
