Shofar Wave: The Sound of the New Year – from the City to the Valley to the Sea

On Sunday, September 20th, from the Valley to the Westside to Pasadena and many neighborhoods in between, you could hear the sounding of a shofar as the Greater Los Angeles Jewish community took part in the Shofar Wave — a partnership between our Federation and IKAR to bring hope and renewal for the New Year. We express our gratitude to all of the synagogues that participated in this incredible way to connect — even if at a distance — to welcome 5781. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our Shofar blowers who made this mitzvah possible. The Shofar Wave is a testament to the strength of Jewish L.A. that not even a pandemic can stop us from enjoying tradition while enduring some of the most trying months we’ve experienced as a community and as individuals.
