Café Europa
Café Europa is a Holocaust survivors’ support group created in 2001 by The Jewish Federation’s Tel Aviv/Los Angeles Partnership in conjunction with Jewish Family Service (JFS) and the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo. Café Europa takes its name from a café in Stockholm, Sweden where Holocaust survivors came to look for their lost relatives immediately after World War II. The program is modeled after JFS’ program of the same name in Los Angeles.

Café Europa allows survivors an opportunity to learn from one another and provides them a comfortable place where they do not feel compelled to explain their pasts. It provides an informal, relaxed setting where Holocaust survivors can engage in conversation, participate in social and educational activities and develop supportive relationships. It is also venue through which aging survivors may learn from one another how to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Participants benefit from lectures by health professionals, meetings with local political figures, cultural events and Jewish holiday celebrations.
