POSITION: Building Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Central Services

SALARY: $100,000 – $115,000

EXEMPT/NON_EXEMPT: Exempt

FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full-Time

TIME-LIMITED: 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP, Administrative Services & Operations , the Building Engineer assumes hands on responsibility for performing a variety of tasks related to the care and maintenance of The Federation building(s), equipment and surrounding grounds.

DUTIES:

  • Maintain building automation systems which may require repairs and/or programming.
  • Maintain HVAC systems, cooling towers, chillers, air handlers, fan coils and gas boilers.
  • Perform and organize preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Develop and maintain building and equipment preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Responsible for City’s annual Reg 4 testing.
  • May perform carpentry work, plumbing and electrical repairs, painting, repair and re-keying of locks, replacing broken glass, repairing plaster, replacing lights.
  • Responsible for repair and maintenance of the Federation’s Delta barrier system.
  • Assist in annual and long-term budget.
  • Review records and inventories of materials and supplies in the engineer’s area of responsibility, and place orders as necessary.
  • Maintain files of all building inspections and permits.
  • Assist with building evacuations and emergency procedures.
  • Perform monthly building walkthroughs and appropriate inspections as directed by VP, Administrative Services & Operations.
  • Work with and organize vendors with construction and/or repairs.
  • Maintain files on vendors and equipment.
  • May assist room set-ups for meetings, cleaning of rooms after meetings, and office/furniture moves.
  • Liaison to Safety Committee.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the VP, Administrative Services & Operations

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including assisting with the Campaign.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

  • Education and experience equivalent to a high school education
  • 7 years’ experience in maintenance and/or engineering work
  • HVAC technical training
  • Broad knowledge and certification of methods, tools and equipment utilized in building maintenance trades and procedures including knowledge of applicable high rise building & safety codes.
  • High rise maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to perform physical aspects of building maintenance including ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, work with tools, etc.
  • Ability to effectively schedule, supervise and coordinate the work of others if assigned.
  • Appropriate education, trade certification and related experience strongly desired.
  • A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays, as determined by the Federation.
