Sylvia Weisz Women’s Philanthropy

Generations of women have paved the way for Jewish Los Angeles to become the vibrant, inclusive, and loving place it is today. As Chair of the Women’s Campaign in 1957, Sylvia Weiszz”l helped set the stage for women of all ages to strengthen the Jewish community. She epitomized the values of family, philanthropy, and service. It was her wish “to see the Women’s Campaign continue to grow, blossom, and develop.”

Stand on the shoulders of trailblazers like Sylvia by making a gift in your name to support Sylvia Weisz Women’s Philanthropy — a community of service-minded individuals who share the values of tzedakah and tikkun olam. Learn about ways to get involved below.

Attend the Susan S. Pritzker Series

The Susan S. Pritzker series features inspiring presentations appealing to women of all stages of life. Established by the Tony Pritzker Family Foundation in honor of Tony’s late mother, Susan S. Pritzker, the series is part of Sylvia Weisz Women’s Philanthropy’s ongoing commitment to provide meaningful opportunities for women in our community to learn from educational speakers, deepen their connection to JFEDLA’s life-saving work, and bond through the shared power of compassion and Jewish values. Women who make an entry-level gift of $500 or more are invited to join us for the Pritzker Series. We thank the Tony Pritzker Family Foundation for generously underwriting the series.

Become A Lion

The Lions of Judah are the most dynamic philanthropic Jewish women in the world. We are an international sisterhood of more than 18,000 global activists who care deeply about our Jewish future. Lions play a vital role in promoting social justice, helping the vulnerable, preserving human dignity, and building Jewish identity in Los Angeles, Israel, and around the world.

In Los Angeles, we are more than 800 Lions strong. Our impact can be seen through our contribution of time and resources. The Lion of Judah recognizes women who set an exemplary standard of leadership and philanthropy, making an individual gift of $5,000 or more to JFEDLA’s Annual Campaign.

  • Annual Lion of Judah Luncheon
  • Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) Lion of Judah programming
  • International Lion of Judah Conference (ILOJC)

Wear Your Lion with Pride

The Lion of Judah pin was established as a symbol of a woman’s commitment to the worldwide Jewish community, supporting Jewish life wherever Jews are in need. Tell your story by wearing your pin proudly, knowing it’s an internationally recognized symbol of philanthropy, commitment, Jewish values, and sisterhood. As your contribution grows, additional precious gems may be placed as an inset in the Lion.
