Author Talk: “The Stories of Survivors”

The short graphic novel The Stories of Survivors layers real Holocaust survivor testimony and the young author’s own visit to concentration camps in Poland to compelling effect, and has been enthusiastically received by Holocaust education experts, Jewish community leaders, and comics professionals. One of The New York Jewish Week’s 2019 “36 Under 36,” Daniela Shapiro wrote and illustrated the book as a rising college freshman. Hosted by the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, the now rising senior will discuss how she utilizes her artistic and storytelling skills to communicate political and ethical ideas in innovative and relatable ways to reach her generation.
