“How the Media Covers Israel: Journalism in a Land of Dueling Narratives”

Veteran journalist Jodi Rudoren, the former Jerusalem bureau chief of The New York Times and new Editor-in-Chief of The Forward, is the featured speaker of a public lecture in UCLA’s Bunche Hall (Room 6275) about how the media covers Israel. She will talk about the opportunities and challenges in reporting in the Middle East. Rudoren’s presentation will be followed by a conversation with Professor Dov Waxman, Director of the UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies, and audience Q&A.

Rudoren joined The Forward – the nation’s oldest independent Jewish news organization – in September 2019 after more than two decades as a reporter and editor for The New York Times. At The Times, Rudoren served as Jerusalem Bureau Chief and held other leadership roles. She also was executive producer of The Times’ multimedia series “One in 8 Million,” which won an Emmy Award in 2009.
