Federation Impact Update — January 2023

The wave of antisemitism we are enduring has left us all unsettled. To confront this alarming trend, our Federation, in partnership with OUTFRONT MEDIA, recently launched a billboard campaign based on ancient Jewish wisdom to combat this scourge. Instead of reacting with anger or hate to the antisemitism staining our local and global communities, we decided to spread awareness of the problem with an ingredient often missing from any answer to hate: LOVE. News of these inspiring billboards has spread from here to Israel, as outlets worldwide are sharing the uplifting words of this campaign. Together, our messages of love are reaching millions.

The fight of the Iranian people for basic human rights is one we cannot afford to ignore. In early December, we helped convene community leaders and activists for Baraye Iran, a community-wide display of support for those seeking to make the country free and inclusive. We stand in solidarity with our vibrant Iranian Jewish community, both locally and across the globe. As the Iranian people attempt to transform their country into one that embraces diversity and all points of view, they will continue to have our unconditional support.

Our Federation cultivates, identifies, and trains leaders who bring fresh perspectives that propel our organization and our Jewish community forward. This year, we are thrilled to welcome Orna Wolens as our new Chair of the Board, Daniel Gryczman as a new Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of our Strategic Planning and Distribution Committee, Allison Rosenthal as a new Vice Chair of the Board, and new Board Members Karen Getelman, Allison Gingold, and Howard Levkowitz. Together these individuals bring a unique and passionate love of Judaism that will have a tangible impact on our Federation and Jewish community for years to come.
