Since 2014, The Jewish Federation’s NuRoots Community Fellowship has been shaking up what Jewish life in L.A. looks like for young adults. Dedicated to building community among people in their 20s and 30s, NuRoots Fellows are full-time community builders who focus on reimagining Jewish life through creative experiences, unique communal gatherings, and deep personal connection, helping young adults envision and define what being Jewish means to them personally — on their terms.

Reflections of a Global Teen Twinning Program Coordinator

Rachel Kaufman is The Jewish Federation’s Global Teen Twinning Program (GTTP) Coordinator and Assistant Principal at Los Angeles Hebrew High School. GTTP is the largest student delegation program in the Jewish world. Every year, hundreds of students in 8th-11th grades from 21 schools in Los Angeles; Tel Aviv; and Vilnius, Lithuania participate in this transformative program.

Welcoming the Newest Cohort of Brawerman Fellows

Through the Brawerman Fellowship, our Federation develops and sustains a talent pool of Jewish young leaders for our community in perpetuity. The Fellowship provides an annual $10,000 college scholarship — a total of $40,000 over four years — and participation in a larger program that builds leadership skills and further strengthens Fellows’ connection to Jewish life through retreats, a trip to Israel, and other overseas opportunities.

National Young Leadership Cabinet – The Federation at Work Across the World

Through the Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA) National Young Leadership Cabinet (NYLC) program, 120 Cabinet members from 34 Federations (including L.A.) traveled to Tbilisi, Georgia and St. Petersburg, Russia for their annual Study Mission.
